The Eye of the Bedlam Bride (2023) ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ by Matt Dinniman and Narrated by Jeff Hays

I listened to the next book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, this time The Eye of the Bedlam Bride which is book 6.
It’s getting harder and harder to write these little snippets about this series, because so much happens in each book as it goes along! This time they get battle cards that they have to use to make moves in their dungeon battles. Some of the characters that come out of these cards are funny, some are scary, and some are totally useless, so it’s fun to find out which ones are which as Donut and her friends find through way through floor number 8.
I was pleasantly surprised that Jola, the Yule Cat was one of the battle cards included in this book. This creature is part of Icelandic legend, and is a fascinating holiday monster that you’ll want to drop everything right now and learn all about.
We get a special treat hearing the voice of Patrick Warburton as Carl’s dad, and Travis Baldree is Raul the crab.
The world building is one of my favorite parts of Dungeon Crawler Carl. Real world game developers literally have all they need to create a Dungeon Crawler World video game, and I can easily visualize playing an open world video game with the way everything is laid out in the books.
