Behind door number 10 we find another Capitol 45 rpm, this time from 1979. It’s Dr. Hook’s Sexy Eyes/Help Me Mama.
Side A is Sexy Eyes, coming in at a tight 2:58. This video is a little embarrassing and super corny. I don’t know how you do that with a pretty straightforward filming of your band playing a song on stage, but they pulled if off quite nicely. At any given point, the singer looks as if he might burst out laughing. Also, the only song of theirs I ever heard before this 45 was Cover Of The Rolling Stone, so it’s a bit of a surprise to me that they’re playing a decidedly disco tune.

I liked both of these songs, but I think my favorite is the B side with Help Me Mama. It’s pretty heartfelt! Sexy Eyes has been in my head for days now, and I can’t get the video out of my head. But who wants to? It was a source of great amusement to me, so it can stay!
