Ok, so I admit that the first band that I really loved was the Beatles. John was my favorite. When I discovered his writings, I thought he was so clever! Here is one that was inspired by the writing style of John Lennon.
Small Sam
One day, there was a small man who was very small. He said to Tall Tom (by name christened), “Tall Tom, why are you tall?” And Tall Tom just laughed at Small Sam (that was the small man’s name) and said, “I don’t know, Small Sam, why don’t you eat your small vegetables, Small Sam?” And Small Sam said, “I don’t like small vegetables, Tall Tom,” Small Sam said, feeling very small. “Eat your vegetables and maybe you will become tall, like me!” Tall Tom said, feeling very tall.
So Small Sam ate his small vegetables, even though Small Sam didn’t like small vegetables. The shoe jumped over the moon. Small Sam sat in his small chair (to fit his small body) eating small vegetables every small day, and Small Sam’s friends laughed at him because he ate his small vegetables. “Why do you laugh at me, for I am only little!” Small Sam exclaimed.
But it seemed that everyone was tall and Small Sam was the only small one there. So every tall person was laughing at Small Sam who was feeling smaller than ever now, (he felt very small) and Small Sam just tried to ignore the tall people’s laughing, and Small Sam just ate his small vegetables for a really small long small time. After an hour, seven small days had gone past.
So Small Sam said, “I should find a small band of small people and call it ‘Small Sam and the Small Vegetable-Eating Small People’. YES!!! That’s what I shall do!!!!” So Small Sam drove in his small vegetable truck that was shaped like a small shoe to a small land called Europe, and he found a small person who was called Small Jim who was very small indeed. Small Sam said to Small Jim, “Would you like to be in my small band called ‘Small Sam and the Small Vegetable-Eating Small People’?” and Small Jim said, “Yes. Who else is in your small band? I will be your small drummer.” And Small Sam smiled and Small Sam smiled and Small Sam Smiled and said, “We are the only small ones so far. We need two more small people!! I will be the small guitar small person.” Eventually, two other small band small members were rallied up whose names shall not be mentioned (their names were Small Joe who was the small bass small player and Small Jack who was the small guitarist, like Small Sam).
One day, they were all sitting in Small Sam’s small shoe shaped small vegetable truck eating their small vegetables, when suddenly, Small Sam got an idea. “Now I know why we have not gotten famous yet!!! We must go back to my small hometown called small United States of America and get a small manager!!” Voom… Voom… Voom…. Vooom…. there they all went to America. They couldn’t find a small manager so they found a very nice tall manager who liked to talk to short people. His name was Tall Tim. So Small Joe said in a very small voice, “All right then, Tim, manage us!!!” and so Tall Tim spiffed them up in very nice small coats to fit the small men. Tall Tim then advised, “Go to London!! That is where you will get famous!!”
So there they went again, back to where they were before jumping in Small Sam’s old small shoe shaped car…. Vooom…. Voooom…. Voooom…. wait wait wait wait wait, oh there you are, Small Joe, hurry up, hurry up…. there you go…. hop in the car…. Ok….. Vooooom….. A few years later, ‘Small Sam and the Small Vegetable-Eating Small People’ came out with a great hit small record called, “We Eat Vegetables, So Don’t Laugh At Us” under the label “Veggie-tones”, but they changed their band name. It was no longer ‘Small Sam and the Small Vegetable-Eating Small People’, it was called ‘Tall Sam and the Tall Vegetable-Eating Tall People’, because somewhere between the last ‘Voooom…..’ and London, they all became tall because they ate their small vegetables.
Now they eat big vegetables, not small ones, and they hang out with all the small people and tell them to take the great advice that one time, long ago, Sam’s tall best friend said to Small Sam, “I don’t know, Small Sam. Why don’t you eat your small vegetables, Small Sam?”
I think my brain is tired after reading that! 🙂 Wouldn’t that one be great with some Seuss-like illustrations?
I wish I had someone to do illustrations for them all!
