The Day Is Gone, Yet It Is Not Night Kitty, October 10, 2017December 22, 2018 0 0 Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second I wrote this poem. Please enjoy! The Day Is Gone, Yet It Is Not Night The day is gone, yet it is not night, Then I wonder when could it be? There is no light inside the sky, No dark is there to see. No dark, No dark I see no light. You must be sure it gives me fright, To see no dark, to see no light. Oh, tell me when can it be? I see my shadow laugh at me, Yet there is no light to cast it; Frightened am I to see my scary shadow Laughing at me, For it has no mouth, you see, Or vocal chords to giggle with glee, And still no darkness do I see Nor light, Nor night My heart a-fright! I say “Just stop, you fiend! What right have you, to laugh at me? It angers me, you rude shadow, To hear your cackle, I’ll have you know.” I stamp on its foot, it cries in pain, Although no light, nor night, you know. Fear subsides, and anger grows, Then joy to hear that smug shadow’s Laughter to end, and tears to flow. I stamp again, again, again Until the shadow squeaks, “Stop, I beg, I grovel, I shout No longer, please! Don’t kick me about.” “Say Uncle!” I demand, pulling its arm. “Uncle!” it yells in loud alarm. I let go, and proceed to question, Why did it laugh, what was so funny, And, for apology, would it give me some money? So here we sit, upon the ground, Discussing these topics, More topics abound, The day is gone yet it is not night. We wonder when it could be? There is no light inside the sky, No dark is there to see. And still no darkness do I see No day, no night, just my shadow and me.
